Topic:
Bayesian methods as generalization of classical least squares and generalized linear models. Multilevel modeling and comparison to classical regression. Emphasis on general methods for model construction, expansion, patching, and understanding. Applications in social science and public health. Hands-on computation using the open-source software Bugs and R.
Instructor:
Andrew Gelman is Professor of Statistics and Professor of Political Science at Columbia University and coauthor of the books "Bayesian Data Analysis", "Teaching Statistics: A Bag of Tricks", and the forthcoming "Applied Regression and Multilevel (Hierarchical) Modeling". His research areas include public opinion and voting, public health, and decision analysis, as well as more general methods for statistical modeling, computation, and graphics.

Enrollment is limited; H&SS affiliates will have priority.
